November is the busiest month of the year for online stores: 11.11, Black Friday (27 November this year) and then the holiday season. When a campaign goes live, traffic jumps to several times the usual level within minutes, and every second of slowdown raises cart abandonment. This guide explains how far shared hosting goes, when to move to a Turkey VDS, and what to do two weeks before the campaign.
Signs you have outgrown shared hosting
- Warnings on cPanel's Resource Usage screen about hitting CPU or entry-process (EP) limits. CloudLinux on our servers gives each account dedicated resources; if you hit the limit often, your site has outgrown its plan.
- 508 Resource Limit Is Reached or 503 errors at peak hours.
- Server response time (TTFB) above one second on pages that cannot be cached (cart, checkout, my account).
- Growing database tables: WooCommerce stores with tens of thousands of orders and product variations struggle with queries.
When shared hosting is enough
For a store with a few hundred products, a few hundred visitors a day and a few thousand during a campaign, well-configured cPanel hosting is usually sufficient. Our servers run LiteSpeed with LSCache: most pages are served from cache and PHP only runs for dynamic steps such as cart and checkout. If you need more, Business Hosting plans offer higher CPU, memory and entry-process limits on the same platform, and the upgrade is done without moving data.
When to move to a VDS
If two of the following apply to you, moving to a VDS before the campaign is the safer decision:
- Hundreds of concurrent users add to cart and pay during the campaign hour.
- Background jobs run constantly: ERP, shipping or marketplace integrations.
- You want Redis/Memcached object caching, custom PHP settings or additional software.
- You manage several stores or domains from one place.
On Turkey VDS plans the CPU, memory and NVMe storage are reserved for you alone; neighbouring sites cannot affect you. With the server located in Turkey, latency for your Turkish customers is low. From the FiberVM panel you take a snapshot before the campaign, watch live resource graphs and upgrade the plan if needed. If you sell to Europe, France VDS runs on the same panel. You can also install cPanel on the VDS and keep the interface you know.
Two weeks before the campaign
- Update PHP: PHP 8.4 or 8.5 is noticeably faster than 8.1, and PHP 8.2 support ends at the end of the year.
- Enable and verify caching: in the LiteSpeed Cache plugin turn on page cache, browser cache and image optimisation; make sure cart and checkout pages are excluded.
- Shrink images: convert product images to WebP, nothing above 200 KB.
- Remove unused plugins: every plugin runs on every page load.
- Clean the database: old revisions, expired transients, abandoned carts.
- Run a load test: simulate twice the expected campaign traffic and watch the resource graphs. If you see a ceiling, complete the plan upgrade or VDS move before the campaign.
- Back up: daily JetBackup backups on hosting accounts, a snapshot before the campaign on a VDS.
- Set up monitoring: get an SMS or e-mail the moment the site becomes unreachable.
Not sure which to pick?
Send us your store's address and the campaign traffic you expect in a support ticket; we will look at your current resource usage and tell you whether we would recommend a hosting plan or a VDS. If you are with another provider, migration is free and is done without downtime before the busy period.
