cPanel Backup and File Restoration Guide

Backups provide recovery after failed updates, accidental deletion and security incidents.

Back up files

Archive the required website directory in File Manager and download the copy to independent storage.

Back up databases

Export the correct database through phpMyAdmin. Large databases may require command-line or support-assisted methods.

Restore carefully

A restore can overwrite current files. Take a fresh copy first, select the correct date and test the website afterward.

Verify backups

Confirm archives open and SQL files contain data. Keep more than one generation and store at least one copy away from the hosting account.
